Virtuos была основана в Шанхае в декабре 2004 года, а в июле 2005 года открыла офис в Париже. В июне 2006 года компания получила инвестиции от Legend Capital. Лос-Анджелесский офис был открыт в ноябре 2006 года, а офис в Чэнду — в январе 2008 года^[2]. В марте 2009 года компания приобрела BSP Audio Production Studios^[3].

Компания разрабатывала 3D-графику для фильма «Терминатор: Да придёт спаситель» 2009 года.
